Inovation of Indosat


Indosat as a cellular service provider in Indonesia, don't want to lost than competitors to test the ability of the technology Long Term Evolution (LTE) for mobile fourth generation (4G). However, for this limited test, the operator can not determine whether the trial will be held at 1800 MHz or 2.1 GHz.

According to Director & Chief Commercial Officer of Indosat Erik Meijer, study and discussion for 4G LTE trial has been conducted with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (Communications). However, a subsidiary of Qatar Telecom is yet to determine the frequency or area used for testing.

Based on the record, Indosat has a bandwidth of 20 MHz in the 1800 MHz and 10 MHz in the 2.1 GHz frequency. If the view of the available bandwidth, it is likely the trial will be conducted at 1,800 MHz.

This frequency is also a selection of Axis Telecom Indonesia for 4G LTE trial will be held in mid April.

Prior to holding the trial, we are also being intensively modernize its network in order to immediately implement 4G LTE as well as 3G menggeber at 900 MHz and 2.1 GHz. Erik said, this year there are 25 thousand base stations which will be replaced with a more modern and environmentally friendly.

Its own parent company Indosat, Qtel Group has confirmed its readiness to deploy LTE technology in Qatar and Oman. In Qatar, LTE technology will be deployed by Qtel, while in Oman by Nawras operator.
